The time has come! You’ve finally decided your child is old enough to visit the Happiest Place on Earth!

…Now what?

Here are some tips on how to prepare your child for his/her first trip to Disneyland:

  • Map it out

Whether it’s your first trip, or your first trip in a long time, get a lay of the land. You can find a Disneyland map here to help familiarize yourself with your surroundings. Hey, it doesn’t hurt to know where the closest bathroom is ahead of time!

  • Test out the rides

Not sure how your smaller traveler will feel about rides like Big Thunder Mountain? Search Disneyland Rides on YouTube and watch the ride throughs with your kids to see what they think.

  • Get the app

Disneyland has a great app called ‘Disneyland Explorer’ that allows you to explore the Parks, watch videos, and learn fun facts before your trip.

  • Prepare for travel

Whether you’re flying, driving, or taking the train, prepare your passenger for the journey. Pack snacks, activities, and potty breaks. For more on what to pack for travel, visit here.

  • Countdown

If the trip isn’t a surprise, consider a countdown! There are tons of different ideas on the internet, but here are a few of my favorites:
