It seems that 2016 is off to a great start. Even with refurbishments happening around the Disneyland Resort, there are still many things to do. In this post, I want to highlight the four things that aren’t to be skipped at the Disneyland Resort this February.
- Have you ever wondered how the Disneyland Railroad steam engines run? Well thanks to the refurb, you now have a chance to see the trains up close! While the Disneyland Railroad is temporarily closed this year, guests at the Main Street and New Orleans Square Train Stations will be able to get up-close with the historic steam engines that have circled Disneyland Park for sixty-years. Not only do you get up close to the trains, but also the ability to learn about these machines from engineers. When I was there I met Norm, who told me remarkable stories about the Ernest S. Marsh. This steam engine was constructed in 1925 on the East Coast. According to Norm, the engine even got lost for 6 months during the shipment process! Along with the steam engines, I had the ability to see the Lilly Belle. Norm told me stories about how he helped restore this Disney classic. Make sure not to miss learning about these machines firsthand.
- Being a Former Jungle Cruise Skipper, I can’t help but love this next thing. As the Jungle Cruise undergoes refurbishment this year, the skippers offer a special “2 for 1” deal. That means any way you slice it, you’ll come out ahead. Join them as they share stories from the river and become an honorary skipper. This humorous encounter takes place in front of the attraction and will run until the Jungle Cruise reopens later this year.
- California Adventure is offering a special preview of “Zootopia.” I have been excited about this film since the D23 expo. The preview is taking place at the Bug’s Life Theater and promises to have some special in-theater effects. Zootopia is an entire world that is populated by animals, which live together in different habitat neighborhoods. Zootopia opens in theaters in 3-D March 2016.
- Disneyland is celebrating Annual Passholders the entire month of February! You heard that right, AP days are coming to Disneyland! Starting February 1st, the Disneyland Resort will be holding play days filled with fun surprises and special events exclusively for Annual Passholders! Each week will have a different theme and the fun will last until February 28th. These days promise to bring continuous screenings of classic Disney animated shorts, unique “AP Days” button series, special character encounters, and a daily “Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps Guided Tour” time just for Passholders (Reservations required, price of tour applies). This is just the tip of the iceberg! More surprises will be awaiting APs in February! Check the official Disneyland website for more information.
February promises to be a busy month and full of magic. Don’t miss the opportunity to see all that February has to offer at Disneyland. Make sure to follow along with Disney Darlings as we bring you up to date Disney News.
Adventure’s out there,
Ps. Here’s one last joke for all you mind readers out there.
