Welcome to 2016! I hope this letter finds you well. I cannot believe Christmas has already come and gone. The decorations have come down, and we are looking towards a bright year with many things happening both at Disneyland and at Disney Darlings.
The Disneyland Resort has been abuzz the last few months with the Diamond Celebration and the expansion of a Star Wars themed land. The Diamond Anniversary is underway and will continue through September 5, 2016. That means you will have time to enjoy Disney Paint the Night parade, Disneyland Forever fireworks, World of Color: Celebrate, Hatbox Ghost in the Haunted Mansion, and more, not to mention the re-imagined attractions such as the Matterhorn, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan’s Flight. If you are worried that you will miss all of these because your visit is after September 2016, do not fret. We believe there is a VERY high chance that Paint the Night Parade, Disneyland Forever fireworks, Matterhorn, Hatbox Ghost, and more will continue for several years. This is because most of the 50th-anniversary entertainment lasted for 5+ years.
We have had some questions on whether 2016 is a good time to visit the Parks due to all the upcoming ride closure for Star Wars Land. On January 11, 2016, almost everything around the Rivers of America is closing for the rest of 2016 (You can see a full schedule list here). Fantasmic is also going down until July 2017. This is a big loss of atmosphere if you are visiting Disneyland for the first time. For most of 2016, Frontierland and New Orleans Square will probably be a maze of construction walls. Disney has still not released an opening day for Star Wars Land, though I speculate somewhere around 2 to 3 years. However, this could always change. I think everyone should plan to get to Disneyland within the next few years to see Paint the Night parade and Disneyland Forever fireworks. Those alone are worth the price of admission to me.
Moving away from the Parks to Disney Darlings, we have had a busy 2015. From all the Diamond Celebration coverage to the D23 expo, it’s been a great year to be a Disney blogger! With that being said, we have some exciting things planned for this upcoming year. Even with the construction and ride closures, we will still have a lot of offer. We are starting a special segment called “Ask a Local”. The idea behind this is for all of you planning a trip, you get the chance to ask and receive some local advice. We are also excited to continue to follow coverage of Star Wars land construction. We will be providing videos and photos of all the progress.
Looking ahead, it is going to be a great year. We all feel very thankful for the support over the last year. We appreciate you!
Adventure is out there,
P.S. – Here’s one last joke for all you mind readers out there.
