On March 20, Disney California Adventure welcomed the all-new Smokejumpers Grill. This new quick-service location is the first phase of the Grizzly Peak Airfield addition to this land, in the space formerly known as Condor Flats. As you can see in these photos, Smokejumpers Grill honors the brave men and women who fight wildfires in our California forests. In fact, did you know a smoke jumper is a firefighter who parachutes in to the site of a forest fire?  All the decorations give a nod to those brave heros. Below, the letter serves as a  back story for the Smokejumpers Grill.

A “letter” pinned to one of the bulletin boards serves up a back story for the Smokejumpers Grill.

The menu has not changed that much, however they have added items like a Bacon Cheddar Burger, Grilled Chicken & Jack Sandwich and Chili Cheeseburger! Check out the full menu here.

This is just the beginning of the Grizzly Peak expansion, which will bring new building exteriors, landscape features and more to the former Condor Flats area. Lush pine trees will bring cool areas of shade, making guests feel  as if they have been transported to California’s High Sierras. I am excited for the rest of the expansion, which should be opening 5/14/15.

Continuing construction of Grizzly Peak Airfield

As I was waiting in line, I noticed some familiar favorite songs. Songs that were made famous by a certain bear musical group that used to perform at Disneyland. Yes, that right! They feature the songs from The Country Bear Jamboree. Beloved favorites like: “If You Can’t Bite, Don’t Growl”,  “My Woman Ain’t Pretty (But She Don’t Swear None)”, and “How Long Will My Baby Be Gone”. Being a huge Country Bears fan, I prefer when Liver Lips McGrowl and Teddi Barra sing. I hope you enjoy this hidden gem.

Overall, this is a welcome change from Condor Flats and a great place to explore. There are quite a few Disney movie references throughout. The Imagineers did a great job with the props and this location!

What do you think? Do you plan on visiting the Smokejumpers Grill? Do you miss the Country Bears like I do?
