The countdown to the 2015 D23 Expo is on! In just a few short weeks fans will gather from all over to celebrate all things Disney. Being a “seasoned veteran” of the past three D23 Expos, I am especially excited about this year. Here are five reasons why:

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts- This is likely to be a HUGE panel full of magic and excitement! Bob Chapek, Chairman for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, promises to give a behind-the-scenes peek at the magical experiences and entertainment coming to Disney’s parks and resorts around the world. I know many fans are hoping for that behind the scenes peek to include Star Wars and Marvel. I am personally looking forward to learning more about the Shanghai Disney Resort. Regardless of what is shared, I am excited for this panel!

D23 EXPO - From August 9-11, 2013, the Expo brings all the wonderful worlds of Disney under one roof at the Anaheim Convention Center for three remarkable days. From celebrity appearances and eye-popping pavilions to fascinating presentations and once in-a-lifetime experiences, there's plenty of magic for everyone at D23 Expo the ultimate event for Disney fans at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. “Walt Disney Archives Presents— Disneyland: The Exhibit” – This display will be the largest display the Disney Archives has ever showcased at any D23 Expo!  It will include themed areas that honor the park’s history, lands, attractions, parades, and entertainment. The exhibit will share historical items from the past six decades, including the construction of Disneyland, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mickey Mouse Club, Club 33, and more! Within the exhibits, they will feature attraction vehicles, costumes, props, and even Audio-Animatronics. For the first time, guests will be able to see early surveying equipment from the 1950s used in the construction of Disneyland, a prototype vehicle for the Alice in Wonderland attraction, “dancing monkey” costumes used in the nighttime spectacular Fantasmic!, an early Autopia car, original artwork from Mickey Mouse Club Circus, the Abominable Snowman from the Matterhorn Bobsleds, and an original pitch book full of colorful artwork that was used to sell Disneyland to prospective sponsors on the East Coast. This 300+ exhibit promises to be whimsical and full of magic from the past.2015ArchivesExhibit

The Disney Legends Awards Ceremony- Hosted by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, this panel honors those who have made significant contributions to the Disney legacy. This is one of the highest honors a person can receive within the Disney company. Their vision and dedication to their work have brought joy to audiences around the globe and earned them a place in Disney history. Those being honored will join the ranks of other Disney Legends like Julie Andrews, Steve Martin, Steve Jobs, Fess Parker, Dick Van Dyke, and Robin Williams. This year honorees include names like Danny Elfman, George Lucas, and Disneyland’s first Ambassador, Julie Reihm Casaletto. This panel always brings me to tears and is truly special. DSC_0283 (2)

Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at The Walt Disney Studios– Disney live action films have always been a family classic, but with the addition of Marvel and Lucasfilm they are home to some of the most engaging stories. Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn and many special guests will give a tour of upcoming live-action projects. Guest can expect to get a inside look at Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Jungle Book, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, Star Wars: The Force Awakens—and much, much more. I am very excited to see what magic Disney has up their sleeves! DSC_0223

Say Aloha to John Lasseter’s Film-Themed Hawaiian Shirts- I am really excited about this! Many of you know that John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, takes Disney and Pixar animation to heart. For almost every film—from Finding Nemo and Wreck-It Ralph to Frozen and Inside Out, Lasseter has commissioned an exclusive movie-themed Hawaiian shirt.  Animation fans will see their favorite film characters “materialize” before their eyes in this colorful collection, which will be exhibited on the show floor. In fact, fans can take home their own shirt, thanks to Disney Store at D23 EXPO! This exhibit is unique and will be very memorable.

D23 EXPO - DISNEY LEGENDS CEREMONY - Anaheim, California (August 10, 2013) - Those who have contributed to the creative legacy of The Walt Disney Company were honored in a special presentation, hosted by Tom Bergeron. The full list of honorees includes renowned celebrities, technology pioneers and artists.
